Hungary's postal codes consist of 4-digit numeric codes. In this code first digit represents the postal region. Not all of the above are county capitals. Instead, they are major cities. These are considered postal regions because they are big junctions and well-communicated cities. While, in the Budapest, postal code format is 1XYZ. Here X and Y represent two district numbers; digits, and the last digit represents the post office's identification number within the district. There is a special system that doesn't follow the district postal codes system for PO Box deliveries. These special postal codes are meant to refer to a post office instead of an area. While rest of the postal codes work as follows:

County capitals contain postal codes ended with 00. It includes some major cities as well.
Cities postal codes contain 0 in the end.
Villages and smaller towns usually have any other number in the end.
