Dataset and API with all EU Countries

The database has a complete list of all countries from the European Union. There are a total of 27 country rows and cities of all sizes. However, each record entry will have the following information.

• Name.
• Capital.
• Currency.
• Language.
• Years of Entry.

For the ease of developers by providing all the information at the same place and lessening the developing time, they are ready to use APIs. These APIs have the following features.

• Easy retrieval of data by using the APIs.
• Download the whole data in JSON format by cloning the database.
• Data can be easily fetched using the REST APIs or GraphQL APIs.

The list of European Union countries consists of 27 members and here we will discuss all of its events and how it works.

How is the European Union formed?

The European Union is the union of some member countries where they take decisions and agree upon the majority voting system. This was formed in the 1950s where the 6 major countries formed the European communities. The countries are listed below:

• Belgium.
• France.
• Italy.
• Luxembourg.
• West Germany.
• Netherlands. As the European Union was formed because of the unity of these countries, the other remaining countries also agreed upon the terms and conditions of unity and freedom. Not only this, but the members of the European Union agreed to a proper treaty to shared sovereignty.

The European Union works in such a way where each member of the union has to agree upon the privileges and obligations of the membership.

As the European Union is working on the agreement of the treaty of membership, each decision that is taken in the union goes under the influence of majority voting. One of the most important things here is that the decision making cannot be done individually by any member. This is also one of the founding principles of the European Union.

How can a country become a part of the European Union?

It is not simple to become a member of the European Union as the country willing to do this must fulfill economic and political requirements. These criteria of the selection included things like a democratic and free-market government. Not only this, but the freedom of instructions is included along with the respect for the rule of law.

Apart from the fulfillment of the criteria, the consent of existing members of the European Union is also very important for the addition of a new member.

Has any country ever left the European Union?

From the start of the European Union till the year 2020, no country has left or been suspended from the European Union. However, some dependent territories or semi-autonomous areas have left the European Union.

The Brexit process.

In the year 2017, the United Kingdom requested to change the Article 50 of the treaty of the European Union. This was because the United Kingdom wanted to properly start the Brexit process. T

his event was completed on 31 January 2020. Here all the arrangements of the treaty remained in the place with only one change. This was the negotiation of the free trade agreement.

The states related to the European Union.

The European Union has some states that are not members of the union itself, but they have a strong relationship with the union and its members. Here we will discuss them.

Norway.

Recently Norway decided on not joining the union however it still stayed a part of the European Free Trade Association and European Economic Area.

Iceland, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein.

Just like Norway, these countries are also not a member of the European Union. However, Switzerland also rejected the membership of EEA. The countries that reject the membership have to pay a fee of membership. Not only this, but they also have to adapt to the European Union Law. This is also known as the “Fax Democracy” in democratic terms.

Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These two are also the related counties to the European Union however they are not members. These counties are under the supervision of the international administrator who ensures the respect of peace agreement from these two. The amazing thing here is that this representative is also appointed by the European Union.

Additionally, these two countries are also under the control of the European Union as the ambition to join the European Union made the country de facto. After this event, the European Union appointed a representative, and all the elected officials and the civil servants were removed so the European Union got bigger control over the area.

Kosovo.

This country is also under the influence of the European Union. This happened after the de facto was transferred from the United Nations to the European Union. So, not most of the major supervision is done by the European Union.

Turkey.

Turkey became an associate member of the European Union in the year 1963. The associate membership means that the member is not a formal member of the union.

United Kingdom.

The future relationship of the United Kingdom with the European Union is still under consideration as any official results have not been announced yet. The deadline for the new post Brexit relations is 31se December 2020.

However, the United Kingdom will remain as a part of the European Union Customs union. Although the government of the United Kingdom does not wish to stay a member of the European Union even after 2020.
